Welcome from the Rev. Pascual G. Abaya, IV

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ

Thank you for visiting the new website for the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace. You will find everything you need on here, whether it be information about the cathedral and our programs or the process of becoming a part of our parish community. The purpose of our new website is to better inform visitors about the many services and activities available at the cathedral. You will find that navigating through the website’s pages takes you through an in-depth look at the many services that we provide at the cathedral to parishioners and the celebratory events that occur within the cathedral walls. Also available on the website are a collection of pages that frames the cathedral’s architectural elegance and its imprint in Hawaiian history. Since the cathedral’s dedication in 1843, it has seen rapid changes in its environment and with its own structure, with the latest restoration project beginning in 2016. Through its 175-plus years of service, those who worship at the cathedral have yet to seize undying care and nurture.

Being from Candon City, Philippines, I understand the importance of connectivity within a tightly-knit island community. Through my years interacting with those who enter the sacred space of the cathedral from the energetic streets of downtown Honolulu, I have developed a deep bond with the community and only wish to extend the reach of the cathedral’s arms out to even more people.

We are grateful that you are visiting this website and hope to see you learn more about what makes the cathedral an integral part of Hawaii’s Catholic community. We hope to one day see you here at the cathedral and experience the services and opportunities that the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace have to offer.
